Editor's Review

Manor Matters is offered by Playrix, the same provider of other popular titles such as the “Scapes” series. This game resembles the gameplay mechanism of other Playrix titles with an object-seeking theme. Players can obtain this mobile game for free on Google Play and App Store with further in-game purchase options. The story background of this game is set in a Castlewood, and players need to complete tasks to make progress in the game. The tasks are generally about manor restoration and renovation. By fulfilling those tasks one at a time, players can bring back the glory and beauty of this manor he or she now resides in. At the same time, they can reveal more hidden secrets and intriguing stories as they clear more tasks. In order to perform those tasks, players need stars which can only be earned through solving puzzles. Unlike the Scapes series, the puzzles in Manor Matters are not March-3 types but to find out given objects hidden or blended in scenes within certain time limits. The object-seeking part is the engine to drive the game progress. In order to solve those puzzles, players need energy, which is necessary when attempts fail and retry consumes energy. It should be noted that energy can be rewarded when a puzzle is solved, or it can be purchased with the in-game coins that are earned through reward or purchased by real money. Manor Matters has a large collection of object-seeking sessions, known as the Scenes. There are 8 categories of scenes with different features and difficulty levels. In general, players enter each scene with a list of objects to find out within a time limit. However, the way objects are given and described can vary vastly from different types of scenes. Meanwhile, the time sensitiveness also differs. For example, in Word Scenes, players will need to search for a group of items given in written words. They normally come in 4-item group and when one group of them are found out, a new set of four-item will be given. Other scenes can be less straightforward than Word. For instance, in Reflection scenes, the items will be displayed in a mirror image; and in Silhouette scenes, players can only get a shadowy frame of the items. Some scenes require players to find out all the items given, while others only ask players to locate one out of three each time. Normally, players are given two minutes to find out the given objects. While they move further into the game, the difficulty levels up and the tasks get more intense with less time being given.

Game Review

This game is very relaxing as other Playrix casual games with puzzle themes. It creates a mysterious and intriguing atmosphere that easily attract people to continue playing. The storytelling is waved into various tasks and puzzles and players can reveal secrets from their own perspectives. This game is less competitive in terms of interactions with other players, instead, its competitiveness lies in those more intense scenes where players have to fulfill tasks with a ticking clock. In general, it well balances the intensity and relaxing ambiance in its game design. If you are a fan of this type of game, particularly the Scapes series, then chances are, Manor Matters is a good choice for you as well.

Large catalogue of object-searching scenes with numerous items cleverly hidden and merged into the scenarios.
The difficulty level and energy regeneration mechanism create a gap for players to keep up without paying.
