Candy Crush Soda Saga retains a classic game mechanism of the popular Candy Crush series. This game is easy to understand and players both old and new can get started in no time. However, this game can be a lot more exciting to play if players get a hang of the combination tricks for different types of special candies.

Before making combos of special candies, players need to first know the basics of the most common types of special candies, such as the striped, wrapped and fish etc. On top of that, they can start making interesting combinations.

When combining two striped candies together, players can create an explosion in a cross pattern (horizontal and vertical lines). When combining two wrapped candies in one move, a 5x5 square blast would take place rather than a 3x3 one. Players can also combine one striped candy with a wrapped one. In that case, a wider explosion on vertical and horizontal lines will take place.

Apart from playing around the striped and wrapped candies, it is also quite interesting to combine fish with any of those special candies. For example, when players use one fish together with a wrapped candy, the fish will swim across the board as well. But once it stops, an explosion of 3x3 square will be triggered. This also applies to fish-striped candy combinations too. However, it should be noted that fish can be rather useful in removing difficult candies. Besides, combining fish with other explosive candies leads to random explosions because the result is totally dependent on the spot the fish stops. Therefore, it is suggested that players save up fish or combine one fish with another to generate more fish.
