Provided by Electronic Arts, Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes is a RPG mobile game with an iconic Star War feature. The general goal of this game is to recruit heroes from Star War characters and build up invincible dream squad to defeat enemies in various battles across the galaxy. The game play of Galaxy of Heroes is rather complicated with very extensive contents and multiple game modes. To start with, this game generally provides two types of play modes: PvP and PvE modes. The former mode involves three ranked arena battles including the squad, fleet and grand arena. In those PvP arena battles, players will be ranked according to their game performance and outcomes. The Territory Wars is also a PvP type of battle for guilds. As for the PvE mode, it is mainly played in order to acquire various resources. This play mode include five types of battles, three types of challenges and some events and raids. There are also a few other game modes, but PvP and PvE are the core of the game play. Speaking of in-game resources, the first obvious one is the in-game currencies that can be used on up to 14 types of special items. Currencies can be gained through game rewards or direct purchase with real money. Another important resource is energies that are automatically regenerated in those PvE battles. There are five different kinds of energies applying to different types of battles accordingly. Furthermore, there are also five special events tickets and a few other resources. The main game is turn-based while there are also many other side activities players can enjoy from time to time. For example, players can easily check out their daily events to claim free rewards; or they can also get involved in Guild Activity where the reward could be even bigger. Apart from that, there are more events such as quests, prestigious quest, achievements and feats. Those contents provide players even greater rewards and other items for their participation. However, the major game mechanism lies in the heroes. Players, especially Star War fans, can choose their squad members from the vast collection of classic characters in the series and join battles in those nostalgic locations. Each hero has its unique features and strength. Players can view the stats of their heroes and upgrade them regularly to enhance their combating performance and damaging power.

For beginning and medium level players, this game provides extensive contents for them to play even though it takes some learning curves. Once players get through the tutorial and prime themselves with the different goals and characteristics of those major battle modes, they can enjoy the increasing fun of the multi-layered gameplay and the interactive game resources. For more advanced players, the upgrading system can be quite frustrating as the time and effort spent on grinding can be a bit overwhelming if players decide to not pay for certain items.
