How to Get Started in Terraria?
Terraria is a vast open world gaming platform with extensive and flexible gameplay. Although this sounds exciting and tremendously entertaining to play, this game can also be quite overwhelming for new players who just step into the open field in Terraria. Given its grandiose open world feature, there is no fixed rule or sequence to play this game. However, there are a number of things new players should prioritize on their checklist. To do those things first can help players kick a smoother start in Terraria without feeling lost on track.
The first thing to do is to make sure the game is set on an easy difficulty level. Since Terraria is quite challenging and hard to get a hang of, it is highly recommended that new players start from the easy mode which can still be hard in its own right. The advantage of doing this is to limit the loss of in-game failure or death. Instead of losing all their game assets and items, easy mode only claims the coins in case of death. Besides, in this mode, the world scale is much smaller, which makes it newbie-friendly in terms of gathering resources and useful tools.
Another top task is to start building. In order to build houses, players need to use their initial tools to chop off trees and mine stones underground. With the most basic resources—wood and stone, players need to build at least two or three housing structures that are close to one another. In doing so, players can have a shelter from zombie attacks. And they also have some storage space for the materials they gather.
Once the basic building projects are taking place, players can start to explore a bit more. Apart from the visible spaces on the ground, players can also try to explore the dark hidden corners underneath. Those places are usually where rare items can be found. In order to get to those places, players need plenty of light sources(torches) to guide their way. Therefore, they should also start to kill slimes and build their basic torches early in the game.
Building, gathering and exploration are the three elementary yet central tasks in Terraria, and players can focus on these elements when they are not sure about what to do at the early stage of the game.
